NOT NOW, DARLING

by Ray Cooney and John Chapman

Join those local masters of comedy, NewPenny Theatre Company, in the elegant London salon of Bodley, Bodley & Crouch. Meet Gilbert Bodley, a philandering extrovert, and his innocent business partner, Arnold Crouch. Gilbert has set his sights on a beautiful stripper, Janie, and aims to seduce her with the help of an exclusive designer coat. There’s just one catch: Janie is married, and her husband, Harry, would be sure to notice such an acquisition. Undeterred, Bodley reduces the price of the coat, and Janie begs Harry to buy the coat for her. However, Harry realizes a bargain when he sees it, and buys the coat, but for his own mistress. Complications ensue when Janie refuses to leave the salon without the coat, and strips. New Penny celebrates five uproarious years with this classic farce of mistaken identities, suspicious wives, scantily clad girls and a continuous barrage of hilarious permutations, which somehow manages to get sorted out satisfactorily for all concerned. Don’t miss this celebration of laughter!
