Approval as stage show raises £700 for charity
A CHARITY production of A Chorus of Disapproval performed by New Penny Theatre Company at The Elgiva Theatre £700.
The event held last Thursday raised money for Rushymead Hospice, OSCAR – which helps support families if children with brain and spine tumours, and Chesham Town Centre.
Mayor of Chesham Councillor Roy Abraham said: “It was a pretty good turn out and a lot of money was raised for charities. It was an enjoyable play as well.”
The self-founded New Penny Theatre Company was set up in May to provide productions for non-professional actors and actresses and to help raise money for various charities.
Its first production, Sweet Charity, supported Sign in Beaconsfield.
“We’re absolutely committed to getting this going and it’s nice to put something back into the community.”
The company is looking to achieve charitable status this year, and its next production, Gypsy, will be supporting the Parent and Teacher association at both Dr Challoner’s High School and Beaconsfield High School.
New Penny Theatre Company is now looking for boys and girls aged between eight and 14 to audition for the play Gypsy. Anyone interested should phone Mr Eales on 078 0361 7112.
The company would also like to hear from organisations that would like to be considered for a charity fundraising evening. For more details phone Mr Eales or visit www.newpenny.co.uk
Tickets for Gypsy, which will be showing in April, are available at the Wycombe Swan on 01494 512000.
